Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we are asked most often about CCTV, alarms and access control in Leicester and Leicestershire. If yours is not here, call 0116 350 0203 and ask.

How much does CCTV installation cost in Leicester?

A small domestic system typically runs from around £450 to £900, a four-camera installation from £700 to £1,400, and a larger home or small business system from £1,200 to £2,500. Complex commercial projects start above £2,000 and need a survey. Those are planning figures rather than quotations, because camera specification, cable routes, access and networking all move the final price.

How long does an installation take?

Most domestic installations are completed in a single day. Larger systems, or jobs involving difficult cable routes, awkward access or multiple buildings, can run to two or three days. We will tell you the expected duration before the work is booked rather than on the morning.

Can you upgrade an existing CCTV system?

Often, yes. We assess the cameras, recorder, cabling, power supplies and network connection to see what can sensibly be kept. A partial upgrade can improve performance without replacing every component, and existing cabling in particular is frequently reusable.

Do you repair CCTV installed by somebody else?

Yes. We can investigate most existing systems regardless of who installed them. We identify the fault and the condition of the equipment first, then explain whether a repair, a replacement component or a wider upgrade is the practical option.

Can I view my CCTV remotely?

Most modern systems support secure remote viewing on a phone, tablet or computer. We will cover the options during the survey and explain what is needed from your internet connection, since remote viewing depends on your broadband as much as on the recorder.

How long is footage kept?

That depends on recorder storage, the number of cameras, image resolution and how much movement each camera sees. Two to four weeks is common on a domestic system. If you need a specific retention period, tell us and we will size the storage for it.

Do I need to tell anyone I have CCTV?

If your cameras only cover your own property, no. If they capture a neighbour’s garden, a shared area or the pavement, UK data protection rules apply and you become responsible for how that footage is handled. For businesses, CCTV covering areas the public can access carries further obligations. We will point out where a camera position creates that responsibility and suggest alternatives where one exists.

Do you work on homes and businesses?

Both. We work with homeowners, landlords and a range of commercial properties, from small shops and offices to workshops, warehouses and multi-entry premises.

Do CCTV systems need maintenance?

Regular checks catch dirty lenses, failing storage, cameras knocked out of position and damaged connections before they leave an area unprotected. It matters most for systems a business depends on daily, where nobody notices a fault until footage is actually needed.

Are you certificated and insured?

We are an SSAIB certificated firm and carry public liability insurance on every job. Our engineers carry identification and will show it before starting work.

Which areas do you cover?

Leicester and locations across Leicestershire including Loughborough, Hinckley, Market Harborough, Coalville, Melton Mowbray and Lutterworth. Contact us with your location if you want to confirm coverage.

How quickly can you respond to a fault?

We reply to every enquiry within 24 hours. For existing maintenance customers with a system that has stopped recording we aim to attend sooner, and we will tell you honestly when we can get to you rather than promising a slot we cannot keep.
